Dara Jr. Game Rules
Dara is a traditional strategy game from North Africa, simplified here for a quick, fun game!
-
The Goal: Be the first player to capture of your opponent's pieces.
-
Phase 1: Placement (Total of 24 pieces placed)
- Players alternate placing one of their 12 pieces (🦁 or 🐘) on any empty spot.
- IMPORTANT: You cannot create a horizontal or vertical 3-in-a-row during this phase.
-
Phase 2: Movement & Capture
- Players take turns moving one of their pieces one square to an **adjacent empty spot** (Up, Down, Left, or Right). No diagonals.
- Rule: You can never create a line of four or more of your own pieces.
- Capture: If your move creates a horizontal or vertical 3-in-a-row, you must immediately select and remove one of your opponent's pieces.
- Constraint: You cannot immediately move the same piece back to the square it just left.
-
Winning: You win by achieving the capture goal, or if the opponent is reduced to only two pieces (as they can no longer form a 3-in-a-row).
